Criss Angel MINDFREAK® LIVE™ is Criss Angel's best work to date, and quite possibly the best work that he will ever do.
I say this with confidence, as someone who has poured her heart and soul into BeLIEving that Criss has always been able to deliver a fantastic live show.
MINDFREAK® LIVE is Criss Angel. As fantastic and wondrous as Criss' past productions have been, MINDFREAK® LIVE is an entirely new, different, emotional experience unlike anything that Criss has done in the past.
I will be the first to admit that I was nervous when I heard MINDFREAK® LIVE would be taking over the Luxor theatre in the second half of 2016. I am nothing if not honest, and I am not a fan of change. Those who know me well know that I have supported Criss endlessly through BeLIEve's run; in my mind I knew of no better Criss Angel theatrical experience. But, I also knew that Criss constantly delivers nothing but the best with each new endeavor, and so I was cautiously optimistic that MINDFREAK® LIVE would deliver on being a one of a kind magical experience.
AND WAS IT.
I had planned a summer Vegas trip before the MINDFREAK® LIVE transition was announced, and my trip fell during the new preview period. I honestly was not sure what to expect. The theatre looked mostly the same. The hallway with spooky trees and Lucky peering through the branches was still there. Inside the theatre, the big red curtain was still there. The 13-hour clock with falling numbers remained. Previous theatre visuals are about all that remained, as the stage itself was radically transformed into something new.
I was certainly not prepared for the greatness that was to occur over the next 90 minutes (really, 2 hours) on that stage.
MINDFREAK® LIVE is a #MagicRevolution, let there be no doubt about that. What Criss has created over the past 15+ years and turned into reality in 2 short months is incredible. Really, there are no words to describe how great it is. He works with the best people, he uses the best equipment, can I please gush endlessly about how fantastic that stage lighting is?! It's the brightest, happiest, rainbow of color I have seen with my two eyes. And the magic, yes, the magic is incredible too - the magic is what matters the most, after all.
I love the new interpretations of the "Criss Angel" illusions that we know and love. I love that the dove act has transformed. Speaking of transformations, I love "In Two" and the razorblades. I love the girl with the creepy red eyes. I will always love the Metamorphosis. And, of course, I love every levitation there is.
Go see the show. Do whatever you have to do to get to Las Vegas and see it. The magic lives at Luxor, and you won't believe your eyes!
